Job Applicant, Beware: You're Being Googled

It's not just what you say that can be held against you when you're looking for a job. It's also what you post on MySpace or Facebook, write in your blog and/or broadcast on YouTube.

That's because if a potential employer uncovers salacious or otherwise unflattering material about you online, that job offer you were expecting could vaporize.

With 77 percent of employers Googling and otherwise researching applicants, you never know what your future bosses may think about those times you ranted about your coworkers or got sloshed at a party.

CAMIO, Arts Image Resource is back on NC LIVE.

CAMIO— OCLC's Catalog of Art Museum Images Online — is a growing online collection documenting works of art from around the world, representing the collections of prominent museums. CAMIO highlights the creative output of cultures around the world, from prehistoric to contemporary times, and covering the complete range of expressive forms.

CAMIO includes ... photographs, prints, sculpture, paintings, decorative arts and utilitarian objects, drawings and watercolors, costume and jewelry, textiles, architecture, and more...

To access OCLC CAMIO, go to NC LIVE...click "Browse Resources" and then "Vendor." On the "Vendor" list, select OCLC CAMIO to begin your search. Off-campus access to this resource requires the NC LIVE password.

PBS videos now available on NC LIVE

There’s no need to wait for reruns of your favorite PBS videos any longer. They are now conveniently available at the library or in the comfort of your own home anytime you choose.

Students, teachers, and/or library patrons at the Wake Tech Libraries now have free access to quality PBS educational and entertainment programming over the Internet. Because the Wake Tech Libraries are a member of NC LIVE, North Carolina's statewide library consortium, they are now able to provide access to nearly 250 quality PBS programs covering a wide variety of topics.

Remember Ken Burns’ Baseball and The Civil War? How about the Emmy award-winning series American Experience and Frontline? They are part of the larger collection of videos that are currently available at no charge to Wake Tech students who request the NC LIVE password.

A second group of videos will be available later in January 2008 that will include children’s programming from the highly acclaimed “Cyberchase” and “Liberty Kids” series.
